HHS'59 Class Reunion Volunteers:

Did you ever want to
be a Detective?

If so, we need your help in finding lost classmates!

What can I do if I live outside of Northwest Indiana?

You can play an important part by helping to locate missing classmates. There are hundreds of sources available on the Internet if you know how and where to look.

USING SEARCH ENGINES

This can be as simple as going to www.google.com  and entering their name. Search engines will find any web listing having that name in the text. If you want the first name and the last name to be searched as one name, use quote marks before and after. Example: "John Smith"

Hint: You can also go to Google's main search page, check "Images" and do the search again. Enter "Wickelgren" and see whose image pops up. Or "Len Clark" and you'll find a picture of our classmate on the Internet.

Other search engines include:

    www.whowhere.lycos.com
www.yahoo.com (Then click on "People Search")
www.yellowpages.com (Then click on "People Search")
www.mama.com (Then click on "White Pages")
www.dogpile.com (Then click on "White Pages")

If you are sent to a web page that wants to charge you for the information, forget about it. It's available free if you keep looking. Some of the services that charge you will take you to another menu and ask more questions, one of which is "age".  If you enter the age and hit the enter key, you'll find a list of people having that name with various ages. Look at the age listed and you will find the CITY in which the person lives. One step closer. Take it from there. Example: Trying to locate Carolyn Buster. Once we did this, we located her in Taos, New Mexico. Still looking for an address and phone number for her.

If you have their phone number but do not have their address, you can do a "Reverse Search."  Enter the phone number and their name and address will pop up. Try it by entering your own phone number and see what happens.

USING CLASS REUNION WEB PAGES

Two major high school reunion services are: classmates.com and reunion.com.
If you are a paid member of www.reunion.com  or www.classmates.com, you can email other members of the HHS Class of '59, and encourage them to contact you and/or send vital information to hazel@hhs59.com which is a free service for emailing one another.
Please note that these subscription web sites will insert "*****" for any email address or web URL that you type in and try to send to someone else on their system.  You can get around this screen by typing: "hazel @ hhs59. com" ... that is, by inserting spaces in either your email address and/or the web URL for hhs59.com

OTHER RESOURCES...

Telephone Books
It can be as close as your phone book. Look them up, then call them up and ask them if they graduated from HHS in 1959. Ask them if they have access to the web and encourage them to visit   hhs59.com and send their registration information to hazel@hhs59.com. Meanwhile, write down their name, address, phone, etc., and send it to hazel as a backup.

Old Mailing Lists and Newspaper Articles
Go through old mailing lists that you might have or old newspaper articles about the classmate. We were able to locate one classmate in Wisconsin when her daughter's name appeared in a Hammond newspaper. We called the daughter and she gave us her mother's phone number and fortunately, she was added to the hhs59 class list.

Also, if you read a newspaper article about the accomplishments and awards of our classmates, clip it and send it! We plan on having a web page for honors and recognition of the contributions our classmates have made in their community, their family, their

Married Names and Name Changes
This is a real problem for finding women who have married and changed their last name. If you know who they married and what their new name might be, let us know. We will do the search based upon their new name.

College & University Enrollment
If you have information as to where one of our classmates may have gone to college, let us know! We can contact the Alumni Office at that college and university for a current address.

Professional Membership & Registrations
If the classmate is a member of any professional or licensed organization, let us know. If they are a Registered Nurse in Illinois, for example, we can find them and add them to the list.

Obituaries
Unfortunately, some of our classmates have passed away. If you have information about the death of one of our friends and classmates, please let us know. If you can tell us where and when they died, we can try to locate an obituary. If you can send us a copy of the obituary or the name of a family member, we can contact them for information.
